Senior UX/UI Designer at Cytiva, July 2020 – present
Cytiva design and manufacture complex laboratory instrumentation predominantly in the field of chromotography. The UX team is fairly small, but we are involved in nearly all products in the portfolio. We design a range of lab instruments, including those found in the ÄKTA range, but we are also involved in the design of proprietary driver software such as UNICORN.
My role involves working on flagship projects, in both a hardware (industrial design) and software (UX/UI) capacity. Additionally, I regularly conduct interviews with candidates to check for technical competence as well as for compatibility with the team.

I started working with Cytiva as a consultant, and was employed by Knightec AB, one of Sweden's finest engineering consultancies.
Senior UX/UI and HMI Designer at Husqvarna, May 2019 – June 2020
Working from the Global Design Centre, I was part of a small and close-knit team of UI, UX and HMI designers striving to level-up the interfaces across a broad range of Husqvarna products. This includes everything from the HMI of a chainsaw and the ergonomics of a ride-on lawnmower, to the UI of an Apple Watch app. All of this is carried out whilst maintaining complex organisational and user relationships.

Founder at DTID Ltd, January 2012 – May 2020
Running my own small design consultancy, I have had the privilege of working with lots of clients across a very broad spectrum, such as kitchen utensils, consumer handheld electronics, audio equipment, drones and FMCG. I have also been able to provide ancillary services through the company, including web and graphic design. Addtionally, I managed VAT and financial accounts myself.
Lead Designer at We Are Nova, May 2018 to February 2019
My last permanent role in the UK, I was employed to oversee the projects of a hardware development team of around 10 designers and engineers. As well as being hands-on with the design of a number of MedTech products, I also coached junior staff and conducted planning sessions with stakeholders and managers.
Founder at Simly Ltd, January 2017 – January 2019
Continuing with the theme of previous roles in the aviation sector, a colleague and I founded Simly with the intention of designing a range of low-cost, realistic physical flight simulation hardware. We exhibited our instruments and equipment at WebSummit 2018 and were invited to speak to multiple investors. Sadly, the circumstances changed for my co-founder, and we had to pause our work, although I remain immensely proud of what we created.
Lead Designer at Autonomous Flight, March 2017 to April 2018
I lead the small team that designed Britain’s first passenger-carrying drone, and was responsible for all design output. Thi included the drone exterior and interior, as well as accompanying website and all presentations and investor material. I spearheaded the adoption of agile practises, and acted as the administrator for Jira. Additionally, I was responsible for recruitment and the company finances.
Industrial Designer at Black Kite Technology, May 2014 to May 2017
Designing complex military flight simulators in a small team. We designed and prototyped complex mechanical instrumentation in-house. I was also responsible for selecting and liaising with external manufacturers and suppliers. Frequent progress reports and presentations were given to stakeholders and product managers. Furthermore, I designed the documentation that accompanied the simulator and respective software.
In this role, I was exposed to many different manufacturing methods, including injection moulding, die-casting, extrusion, fibreglass and lost-wax casting.
